MEETING PURPOSE:
The Australasian Industrial Research Group (AIRG) invites you to attend an evening “Canapes and Learn” session on 2 areas important to the Australian technology sector; the venture capital industry and protecting intellectual property rights globally. Tonight, two presenters will present their views and experience on these topics in which they have considerable expertise and experience.
The first presenter, Mark Paulson from Jones Day based in Washington, will provide an interesting insight from a foreign perspective into the Australian venture capital industry. He will cover the topic of why Australia has a great record of technology innovation, but has been less successful in commercialising this technology. He will also present us with some interesting case studies illustrating his points.
The second presenter is Dr Malcolm Engel, Head IP for the weir Group. Malcolm will discuss some of the challenges and successes that the Weir Group has had in protecting their intellectual property including in countries where IP protection is still in its infancy, such as China.
The AIRG hopes you will take this opportunity to attend and learn from these speakers experience and to participate in some vigorous Q&A discussion after each presentation while enjoying a few drinks and canapés in a very stimulating environment. We look forward to seeing you there; book early as seating is limited.
